UPDATED INCOTERMS 2021

What You Should Know as a SUPPLIER OR BUYER

As a shipper or buyer, you should analysis and identify what Incoterms your business commonly uses on your shipping. However, some of these terms have changed in element to improve the overall understanding of buyer and seller.

Commonly used terms are below:

FOB – (Free on Board)
EXW - (Ex Works)
FCA - (Free Carrier)
CPT - (Carriage Paid To)
CIP – (Carriage & Insurance Paid To)
CFR (Cost & Freight)
CIF – (Cost Insurance & Freight)
DAP – (Delivered at Place)
DPU – (Delivered at Place Unloaded) (Launched in 2020)
DDP – (Delivered Duty Paid)
FAS – (Free Alongside Ship)

These below terms are changed or merged:

FCA- Free Carrier
Seller hands over goods, cleared for export, to the first carrier (named by the Buyer). Seller pays for carriage to the point of delivery. (Can be used for all modes of transit)

DAP, DPU and DDP
DAP (Delivered at Place), DPU (Delivered at Place Unloaded), and DDP (Delivery Duty Paid) now take into account the consignee and supplier arranging their own transportation in place of using third parties.

CIF and CIP
Old term CIF (Cost of Insurance and Freight), has been shifted to CIP (Carriage and Insurance Paid)

DAT is shifting to DPU
New launched Incoterm DPU ( Delivered at Place Unloaded ) has been exchanged to DAT (Delivered at Terminal).
